LAN Sessions

Postby Bowch » Sat Jul 19, 2008 10:47 am

Would people be interested in the return of the club's semi-irregular LAN sessions?

It would all be dependant upon numbers interested and if we can get the Falcon Club back room on a Saturday/Sunday.

The club has it's own 24-port hub, and a selection of network cables and power extensions available for this purpose.

We have previously run the following games:

Quake 3 (deathmatch)
Unreal Tournamet (CTF and deathmatch)
Crimson Skies (CTF and deathmatch)
Diablo 2
Battlefield 1942

I would love to do some more LAN sessions, but I just don't have time to organise them any more. Family committments and such.

LAN yey

Postby tanturia » Thu Jul 24, 2008 1:29 am

I could bring pc's and games if needed?

Halo works well for FPS as one we haven't rfan before on LAN its quite low spec to which reduces lag.

Baldurs gate takes to long but I think it has been ran in the past, could try some RTS games although there not to everyones taste.

Unreal tournament and half life are always fun :D

If i'm bringing pc's let me know in advance what games need pre installing.

Just out of curiosity how many dfecent riggs does the club itself own or is it all club members pc's I know we have some LAN kit but what about PC's?

Is that a 10 or 100mb switch just out of curiousity? I know it won't be 1000mb.

Where do you tend to setup the riggs? Do we have desks? I suppose you could use the wargaming tables?

The club does not own any PCs, just the hub & some cabling.

I can bring my Linux machine down and set it up as a dedicated games server.

If I had to guess how old the pics are, I'd say they're about 6 or 7 years old? Just basing that on who is in the pictures. I think I saw my Athlon 1.4Ghz in the mix on the 3rd and 4th ones.

First two are from June 2000.

Last two are from March 2001.

Would've been obvious if you'd checked the picture's filenames...
