Costume making afternnon

Postby Eclectica » Wed Apr 27, 2011 7:09 pm

I am planning a costume making get together at the end of May, for all LRPers and potential LRPers.

In the club there are a range of levels of experience when it comes to kit - the clothes, weapons and armour (and all the other tat..I mean accessories) - and I thought it would be great for us all to get together and generally enthuse (and maybe get some kit making done!!) and learn stuff from each other. So whether you have been making kit for 20 years or don't know where to start, bring your projects and/or questions!

The idea would be to turn up at my house on Sunday May 29th at 2 pm ish, and stay for a little while. I will provide tea or coffee.

If you are interested post here (or let me know at club), and I will pm you with details of how to get to my house.

Liz

I am up for this. I have some experience of metal armour making and latex weapons/armour work. I also have limited leather working experience. My costume experience is nil. All in all I may have something to contribute.

Thanks
John

I am up for this, and know where you live :)

I will have to bring Andrew with me and we might not have any costume to make, but we have made LARP kit for many years. We have had varying degrees of success and would be more than happy to chat about costumes old and new.

We may have some spare fabric suitable for cloaks, tunics etc, so if anyone is interested in making some basic kit, and might be interested in acquiring some of this, please talk to Steve at Club

I have a sewing machine that I can show people how to use if they would like.

Yes!

It's still on, and I am about to send PM;s with my address on to those who have expressed an interest.

If you don't receive one (and have never been to my house) post on here and I will remedy this.

See you Sunday!

Having just got back from the sewing meeting at Liz & Tom's, I have to say thank you to Liz for feeding us. :)

We had a good chat and some costume talk, Liz managed to get some sewing done and the lads played some Flux. It was an enjoyable afternoon and evening.

I hope we do it again soon.

We did discuss kit making at the start :)

Thanks to everyone who came, and hopefully those who weren't able to come are feeling better soon!

I'm thinking of offering to run another one closer to Legacy, if there is interest.

I would be interested in at least talking over some ideas with someone who has some experience. If another of these little get-togethers is, or could be, planned, I'd be interested in coming along.

I'd have really enjoyed this, shame I am too far away.

Ditto.

Can't you all just move Cumbria a little nearer the North East?

This is the only tutorial I've seen on making leather scale armour;
